Our students participate daily in Morning Prayer, where we come together as a school community to start our day. There is a Saint of the Day presentation as well as the Pledge to the Cross and the daily prayer.
Each day at noon our students as a community pray the Angelus with all the faithful around the world. They also, at the request of Pope Francis, pray before their meal at lunch time.
"One expression of this attitude is when we stop and give thanks to God before and after meals. I ask all believers to return to this beautiful and meaningful custom. That moment of blessing, however brief, reminds us of our dependence on God for life; it strengthens our feeling of gratitude for the gifts of creation; it acknowledges those who by their labours provide us with these goods; and it reaffirms our solidarity with those in greatest need."
- From paragraph 227 of LAUDATO SI
Our students end the day with prayer as our final dismissal practice.
Our students attend weekly Mass at 12:10pm on Wednesdays alongside the Our Lady of Sorrows Parish community. Students and faculty participate in the liturgy by proclaiming the Word and bearing gifts.
Daily Mass takes place at Our Lady of Sorrows Church at 7am each morning. Faculty, students, and parents are invited to attend Mass prior to the start of the school day.
The Notre Dame community gathers together once a month for Family Mass. Each class serves as the "host" of one of our Family Masses, with the opportunity to be directly involved in the Mass in ways that they might not ordinarily be, participating in the liturgy through lectoring, bearing of gifts, altar serving, and attending Mass together. Students wear their uniforms during Family Mass and show pride in being Catholic school students at Notre Dame School.
Fr. Cesar and Fr. Mario hear confession from our 3rd through 8th grade students on the first Friday of each month on campus. Occasionally, priests from other local parishes will join in hearing confession from our students. Faculty, Staff, and Parents are invited to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturdays before the 5:30pm Mass.
