...treat their teacher and the virtual learning space with the same respect and discipline as would be given in the in-person classroom. This includes refraining from eating during class, leaving before being dismissed, or lying in bed while participating.
...expect teachers to hold them to high standards daily and prepare appropriately for class time. This includes having all materials, supplies, completed assignments, and textbooks available to participate fully in the virtual session.
..wear a Notre Dame School uniform shirt, PE uniform shirt, Jog a Thon shirt, or Notre Dame logo outerwear during all virtual sessions. Uniforms are required even in the virtual learning classroom.
...attend all scheduled sessions as outlined by faculty and administration. Attendance will be marked as partial or full day absence depending on partcipation in virtual sessions.
...keep cameras on and pointing towards themselves or their work space area for the duration of the virtual session. Any student who refuses to turn on their camera will be considered absent.
...use appropriate language and tone as would be expected in an in-person setting. Curse words, general disrespect, abusive, or combative language will not be tolerated and are cause for disciplinary action.
...never take screenshots, recordings, or photos of other students on screen during any virtual session, even if it is meant to be used for a positive reason. If a picture is found on social media, especially if for a negative reason, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken by administration.
...stay near to the student to monitor student participation and physical safety, but do not actively participate in the class session or meeting unless invited by the teacher.
...limit background noises and distractions during virtual sessions. These may include TV noise, dogs barking, other children engaging in virtual learning, working parents, etc.
...provide headphones or external microphones to students if it will limit distractions and increase focus in the virtual learning space.
...never take screenshots, recordings, or photos of other students on screen during any virtual session, even if it is meant to be used for a positive reason.
All student and parent behavior warranting follow up or disciplinary action will be addressed by school administration in accordance with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles Handbook and Notre Dame School Parent/Student Handbook.
